Nicola Blackwood MP supports OHC!

Lorna met with Nicola on Friday 25th May who was interested to know what Oxford Hockey Club will be doing in the build up to the London Olympics. Nicola had hoped to join OHC when they broke the world record for dribbling a hockey ball 2012km at the Big Dribble on May 1st but was needed in the House of Commons. Lorna encouraged Nicola and all supporters to wear red to support our GB women and men’s teams who are both in medal contention this summer.

Oxford Hockey Club is running a summer coaching session for juniors on Tuesday evenings just turn up and play and we are continuing with our hugely successful Back2Hockey which is a fun ,sociable way to get fit playing Hockey.

England Hockey are hoping for the Wimbledon affect this summer with their 5 week frenzy where clubs are encouraged to welcome new players to the game holding fun events throughout the London Olympics.

Oxford Hockey Club is one of the participating clubs who are hoping to raise the profile of Hockey in Oxford this summer and beyond. Lorna will be building on her role as schools development officer in the coming year with the support of England hockey.

Milton Keynes Summer Camp 2012

Good Morning potential Summer Camp parent!

It is that time of the year when the main season is over, and we start looking towards a relaxing summer ahead.

It is also the time to start thinking about the Milton Keynes Summer Camp, once more run under the expert eye of Soma Singh.

The camp this year will run 20th – 22nd August, at Leon Leisure Centre in South Milton Keynes, 10am to 4pm each of the 3 days, there are also of early bird and late owl sessions.

The ethos of Milton Keynes Summer Camp is first and foremost, Fun.

The 3 day camp will touch on numerous aspects of the game of hockey, but will focus on individual skills, with game play ability and awareness coming in a close second place.

Drill style training will be kept to a minimum.

Alongside Soma, there will be a dedicated team of coaches, with experience of playing and/or coaching at a high level.

Guide ages are U10 – U14

The camp is open to girls and boys, and even goalkeepers!

Shin Guard, gum shields, and stick are required.

The cost of the event will be – £100

See www.mkhockey.co.uk for further information, and application form

We look forward to hearing back!

Cheers,

Jace

JDC Problems

Dear all who are doing JDC’s this summer,
I made inquiries 2 weeks ago about the admin progress of players who have signed up for JDC’s this summer.
There is a breakdown in admin procedure between Oxfordshire HA and the registration process involving England HA.
There is nothing we can do at the moment – I don’t think anyone’s application is going to be rejected if cheques come in late.
Have to wait until we know more.
Best wishes
Andy Roscoe
